▼Employment opportunities for people with disabilities in Sri Lanka▼

  • In Sri Lanka, we employ Sri Lankans with disabilities, including people with intellectual disabilities and those who find it difficult to lead independent lives.

  • We also provide them with technical support. Our Sri Lanka activities also provide people with disabilities who are working for Okashi-ya Palette (Palette Confectionery) in Japan with the opportunity to make a social contribution through cookie-baking

On October 10th, 1999, we founded Sri Lanka Palette, which is a cookie bakery in the town of Meegoda, 27 km. from central Colombo. The land where the bakery is located, on the site of a ceramic factory owned by Mr. Dayasiri Warnakulasooriya, has been loaned at no charge to Sri Lanka Palette. Sri Lanka Palette employees, nine youth who have physical and/or intellectual disabilities, make and sell cookies. In order to provide the local staff with disabilities with the technical skills needed for making cookies, two staff with disabilities from Okashi-ya Palette (Palette Confectionery) in Japan visited the Sri Lanka site. This activity enabled them to make a social contribution and provide international support by themselves. Happy Palette, a place for leisure activities, was launched in Sri Lanka in June, 2000, to deepen the connection with the community.
